How We Met

It was December of 2017, when we met at the Vacaville Ice Rink through a mutual friend. We talked a little, but for the most part Ernie was being goofy, so we never had a real conversation. This was during semester break from school, and when the new semester started, our paths crossed more and more. We ended up becoming friends through track & field later that school year. Fast forward to 2019, we both started talking more and more, unconsciously spending lots of time together. We hung out a lot at track meets and we also crossed paths a lot in the halls between classes where we would talk then too. As time when on, Ernie started to develop an innocent high school crush. Once he finally spilled the beans to Makayla, this sparked mutual interest. And on May 21st 2019, Makayla and Ernie officially became a couple.

The Proposal

While we were away at college, Ernie had a date in mind to propose. He wanted to make sure we were both back home so that Makayla could share the moment with her family. So leading up to the break from school, the story that Ernie told Makayla was that we were just going to take "cute couples photos" when we go back home since it had been about 2 years since the last couples photos we took. Makayla was all for it! So we went to this church in Vacaville. It was a place locally known for for its nice view. This was also a place we had previously taken pictures at, so it seemed like the perfect place. When we got to the church, Ernie told Makayla he was also going to "Vlog" the time we spent back home, so that was the cover up for why we were recording as well. So, we went on taking pictures at different spots around the church before we finally came to the final spot. Ernie's heart was racing and he was so nervous that his original plan to pop the question was thrown out the window. So he came up with something else. He told Makayla to face the camera and pose like the infamous Titanic pose. While she was facing the camera, Ernie pulled the ring out behind her and got down on a knee. It took Makayla a minute of just standing there before she thought to turn around. That is when Ernie popped the question. Spoiler alert... SHE SAID YES!!! So excited to share our special moment with all of you! See you there!
