How We Met

Nick & Rachel both worked at a company called Collective Bias after graduating from the University of Arkansas. In 2016, the company was acquired and everyone flew out to North Carolina for a big corporate meeting with the new parent company. Sounds like a blast, right? During the trip, Rachel let her friend Katy know a secret, a secret Katy just couldn't keep. Katy immediately told Nick and, thanks to Burnett's (but now how you'd imagine), here we are!

Our First Date

or second... or third...

When Nick finally asked Rachel out to dinner, the wait was just too much. The night before the first date, Rachel invited Nick to a local comedy stand-up then they went for drinks at Nine's Alley (RIP) after where they spent hours talking about anything and everything. The night went well enough that she decided to let the Friday date stand and the first date became second. Saturday morning came around and having two great dates under their belt, Rachel and Nick kept a good thing going and went hiking with their friends Katy (same one!) and her then boyfriend, now husband, Austin. After driving down to the Ozarks to see the Eye of the Needle, the three date extravaganza came to an end and the rest is history.

The Proposal

Following the second (first?) date, Nick knew that just dinner wasn't going to suffice with Rachel. Quick on his feet and noticing the beautiful night sky above, Nick proposed (no, not yet!) going to one of his favorite places in the Ozarks to star gaze. Four years later Nick knew that the only place he could possibly propose was there where they had their second date and first kiss. He conjured up a plan to get close without raising suspicion: hiking at White Rock then lunch at the Pig Trail Country Cafe. Nick roped his sister into the plan and after lunch, they went across the street to the White River to "swim" where Tori was waiting. Nick left Rachel with Tori, a bouquet of flowers, and a note to read while he zoomed down the road to the overlook. Tori delivered Rachel shortly after and Nick cried, popped the question and then some champagne because guess what! She said yes!
