During their last semester of law school, Maja and Jesse attended a pre-party for Krewe du Vieux, the kick-off of Mardi Gras season. Jesse was wearing a purple suit, but Maja was still intrigued. They engaged in deep conversation while walking down Esplanade Boulevard to the parade route and the next day, each of them texted the same friend to ask for her opinion on the other. She told them to get in touch. The rest is history!
After taking the bar exam, Maja and Jesse met in Europe for a romantic escape in Venice and a bike trip along the Danube. After a year of long distance and many flights between O'hare and DIA, Jesse and Maja moved in together in Chicago during the Summer of 2017. They live in the South Loop with their toy Aussie, Buku.
On December 28, 2019, a misty Chicago evening reminiscent of New Orleans, Jesse and Maja bundled up to walk along the Lakefront trail. They took their favorite route under the 11th Street bridge to the Museum Campus and then meandered to see the jazz-inspired 'Spirit Totems' by the Field Museum. In front of the glittering Chicago skyline, Jesse proposed after revealing a red bowtie under his winter parka. The next day, the two flew to Jesse's parents' home in Whistler, BC to celebrate and ring in the new decade as an engaged couple. After postponing the wedding for one whole year we are so excited to celebrate with everyone! *** Please see the FAQ page for City of New Orleans COVID-19 guidelines and related information. ***
