Maja & Jacob met in high school playing mellophone in the Lone Peak Marching Band. After that first season, they both were interested in each other, but too shy. So who made the first move? Jonah Tipton did. HAHA. Because neither of them would—Maja thought she was seriously friend-zoned and Jacob didn't know how to talk to girls. So it wasn’t until their mutual friend, Jonah, gave them a boost that they really started talking. Their first date was August 30, 2017—Maja’s 16th birthday. From that first kiss (planted just a stone's throw away from their wedding reception venue, in the white gazebo on main street) the rest is history.
Once Jacob graduated high school, he left for two years to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in Perú. While he was gone, they emailed weekly and sent letters often. Maja graduated high school and started her freshman year at BYU. As she was preparing to serve a mission herself, COVID hit and she moved back home—and so did Jacob! Thanks to COVID, they got the entire summer and fall together before Maja would start her own mission service. That time was just what they needed—full of hikes, big adventures like skydiving and camping, and smaller ones like pumpkin painting and cooking, and many many conversations about "us." In December they went on their last date for what they thought would be a while; then Maja started her at-home missionary training, studying Italian. A month and a half later, as Jacob started his second semester at BYU, Maja hopped on a plane to bike the streets of Arizona and share the gospel. Still, they wrote every week. After 3 months of service, Maja felt impressed to come home, not understanding why but trusting God that it was right.
This reunion was the sweetest yet. And now, here they are, sealing their relationship for time and all eternity in the Provo City Center Temple—just two blocks away from their new apartment. Together, they’ll finish their bachelor degrees at BYU. Jacob is planning on attending medical school to become a family doctor. They want 13 kids, 1300 plants, and to live to the next century. ...Okay but really, more like 4 kids, 130 plants, and a lifetime of love and adventure!
