For a routine U.S. passport, processing can take 4-6 weeks, while expedited processing is 2-3 weeks, with an additional $60 fee. It's important to factor in time for the application to arrive at a passport agency or center (up to 2 weeks) and for the completed passport to be mailed back to you (also up to 2 weeks).

Visas/ETIAS
In 2026, a visa will not be required to enter Spain for U.S. citizens for short-term tourist stays (up to 90 days). However, all U.S. citizens traveling to Europe will need an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System). This is not a visa, but an electronic travel authorization that must be obtained before travel. ETIAS will be required for all visa-exempt nationals of countries like the U.S. who wish to enter Europe for tourism, business, or transit.
