Step 1: Take the Leonardo Express train from FCO to Roma Termini station. This direct train runs frequently (about every 15-30 minutes) and takes around 30 minutes. Step 2: From Roma Termini, transfer to a regional train heading to Orvieto. These trains run regularly and take about 1-1.5 hours to reach Orvieto. Tickets: You can buy tickets online through Trenitalia or at the station.
Upon arrival in Rome, and if opting against a train, we recommend that our guests either rent a car or hire a private transfer for easier access to the venue. There will be plenty of free parking at the venue. If you're interested in renting a car please visit: https://www.rentalcars.com Make sure the rental company informs you on the ZTL areas (traffic not allowed for non resident) when you pick up the car to avoid fines. The wedding ceremony will take place inside a church, while the rest of the festivities will take place outside (if the weather is on our side).
In early October, Orvieto enjoys mild and pleasant weather. Temperatures typically range from 59°F to 72°F, with cooler mornings and evenings. Expect sunny days but bring light layers for the evening! Also for the ladies, given the presence of gravel and grass, we do not recommend the stiletto heel, unless you want to bring heels as spare shoes for the dinner. In any case, we recommend that you check the weather forecast before your departure.
Ensure your passport is valid at least through December 29, 2025, as Italy requires at least three months of validity beyond your departure date. If you need to renew, we recommend applying by July 10, 2025 to allow for standard processing (or by August 10, 2025 if expedited). Be sure to check your expiration date early! More information on how you can apply for or renew your passport: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel.html If you plan to rent a car, you'll need both your U.S. driver’s license and an International Driving Permit (IDP), which you can obtain before your trip: https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html. The application takes 5-10 minutes to fill out, and you can expect to receive your IDP in approximately two weeks. Also, be mindful of Italy’s ZTL (limited traffic zones) when driving in cities!
