We met in high school and started off as just friends! I was a sophomore and Seth was a junior. We would always argue in the hallway about who's favorite NBA team was better - the Sacramento Kings or the Phoenix Suns. After I graduated in 2019, we started talking more and more and Seth eventually asked me out on a date. We became boyfriend and girlfriend on August 2nd, 2019, and the rest is history! And we still argue about who's NBA team is better :)
Seth proposed during our five-year anniversary trip in Maui, Hawaii. It was our first full day on the island. We spent the morning exploring, shopping, and relaxing at the beach. That afternoon, we drove up to the Haleakalā summit and got to take in the views from the top. As the sun was about to set, we found a spot on the side of the mountain to pull off, eat our Costco sandwiches, and watch the sunset. We were taking some pictures when Seth got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I cannot remember anything that he said. I don't even remember saying "yes"... I was too excited in the moment. The rest of the trip was so much fun, getting to tell everyone we met that we just got engaged!
We opted to "elope" in place of having a traditional wedding ceremony. On Valentine's Day, we were legally married at the Phoenix Courthouse with our immediate family there. A week later, on February 22nd, we exchanged our vows and rings in a private ceremony with just our photographer and videographer in Malibu, California. We were able to enjoy that weekend taking it all in and relaxing at the beach. We chose 2/22 as our anniversary date since 2 seems to be our lucky number :)
