Attention friends and family: If you are attending Saturday, (3 days and counting!), here are a few things I wanted to let everyone know. 1. If you are driving up 299 (especially), plan for traffic delays; especially with the holiday weekend. It's summer time so they are repaving roads and there are quite a few patrolled areas. If you are driving anywhere near Siskiyou County, beware of fire traffic too. And drive safe! 2. Make sure you are coming to the right Lake City please! 🤷♀️ Check out the wedding website for the zip or message me; but it's the Modoc County one if you are questioning yourself. 😉 3. If you have questions, message me or Kyle! We can't wait to celebrate with you.
Let's just say simply that our road together has included lots of hurdles, good times and memories that will last beyond our last breathes. It all started with our local 4-H program. Maigen recalls people always being swooned by the infamous "bad boy." 4-H camp is where Maigen really had the chance to learn more about Kyle. After getting over her fear of his mom Debbie, she was able to unknowingly execute the "meet cute." Kyle had just graduated high school and he did not have the best year. There is a lot of backstory to what I say next, but let's just say that he was throwing a huge tantrum because they ordered him a large t-shirt instead of a medium. It went on for a few minutes during our welcome meeting while his mom tried to calm him down. I got tired of it so I walked over, took his shirt and told him to take my medium. His head lowered while his mom chastised him and told him to say thank you. I am still not sure if it was just a mumble or an actual thank you! Later that year, Kyle began working for Walmart and continued to struggle as his health stalled all his plans after high school. Fast forward through dumb teenage love affairs... (all important-ish but stupid and drawn out! haha). We started dating in June of 2010 steadily. By September, the week before Kyle turned 21, he was tired of waiting. So in the middle of the famous "Battle of the Axe" football game, on the visitors side at the WHS field, while his parents watched through binoculars, he got down on one knee, embarrassed me to no end and the rest is history... sort of. I graduated college, became a teacher and now we have settled in the uppermost northeast corner of California. Kyle has worked for lots of people, learning lots along the way. He now works seasonally for the Bureau of Land Management as a range tech that specializes in weeds. Together, we are the "parents" of our sweet GSP Hazel Grace and a kitty named Sirius. It is now 10 years later and are finally ready to say our "I do's."
