Our Love Story

Maicie and Cade spent years walking the same hallways, sharing the same grade, and even having mutual friends—yet somehow never actually meeting. Cade swears he knew exactly who Maicie was, while Maicie insists she had absolutely no idea who he was. Funny how timing works! Fast forward to September 2020. Maicie had graduated high school a year early and was already a freshman at the University of Oklahoma, but she came back home for what would’ve been her senior year rivalry football game: Grapevine vs. Colleyville Heritage. While sitting in the student section, she spotted a cute boy on the field wearing a very questionable jumpsuit as part of the Grapevine High School Spirit Rustlers (a group of boys whose job is to hype up the crowd with skits and chaos). Assuming he had to be a new student, Maicie asked her friends who he was—only to be reminded that he’d been there all four years… and yes, they’d been in the same grade. Slightly embarrassed but very intrigued, Maicie asked her friends for Cade’s number… and then waited until she was safely back in Norman to actually text him. What started as casual texts quickly turned into long FaceTime calls, which turned into countless trips from Norman, Oklahoma back home to Grapevine, Texas—mostly to watch Cade play soccer (and partly because all of Maicie’s classes were online… thank you, COVID). On October 14, 2020, the two officially started dating. A few months later, Cade committed to Texas A&M University (whoop!), turning their three-hour distance into six. Despite busy Greek life schedules, they spent the next four years traveling back and forth between College Station and Norman, proving that love (and a lot of road trips) could handle the distance. Throughout college and the ups and downs of long distance, Maicie and Cade also grew together in their faith. What started as individual walks with Christ slowly became a shared foundation—learning how to pray together, encourage one another, and serve others along the way. That growth shaped their relationship and inspired a shared servant heart, leading them to invest in and serve their local church—something they knew they wanted to continue building together long after college. As graduation approached, long distance finally came to an end. Both Maicie and Cade moved back to DFW, started their big “adult jobs,” and began building everyday life side by side—grounded in the faith they had grown together. On January 17, 2026, Cade surprised Maicie with a proposal, followed by a celebration surrounded by their closest friends and family—turning a love story that started on a football field into forever♡
