Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

We love your kids—we really do. But we want our wedding to be your night off! This event is 21 and up only due to the serving of alcohol. However! We will have a childcare service as listed in the next FAQ point.

Question

If I have kids, will there be childcare service?

Answer

Actually, yes! If you have kids, there is going to be a Mammoth Mountain childcare area setup for them to be dropped off, and they will be fed and taken care of until you are ready to pick them up after the reception. Please reach out to us for more details when the day draws near, since we will need a head count of how many kids will need to be looked after.

Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

The ceremony will be taking place on top of a most likely snowy mountain, so please dress warmly with snow shoes that will helpfully prevent slipping on the snow. We highly recommend that no one wears high heels, as it makes walking through snow and getting on/off the gondola very difficult. After the ceremony though, everyone will be allowed to wear what they wish during the reception. This will take place indoors in a warm area so cocktail dress code will be safe at this point.

Question

Is there a registry?

Answer

John and I feel that your presence at your wedding is more than we can ask for, so we do not have a registry. We will have a wedding card box for you to drop off well wishes for us though!

Question

Can altitude sickness happen to me?

Answer

Yes. Mammoth Mountain's altitude is above 7,000 and people may experience a form of altitude sickness in the form of fatigue or headaches. Please make sure to drink plenty of water, and bring aspirin with you to mitigate such altitude sickness. Also, because of the altitude, you will get drunk much faster. Please drink responsibly while in town and at the reception!

Question

Will I need snow chains/cables to get into Mammoth?

Answer

Unfortunately, this is something we have no way of knowing until the day draws closer. We recommend that all guests driving to Mammoth keep an eye on this link: https://www.mammothmountain.com/winter/mountain-information/mountain-information/road-conditions If this website lists that snow chains/cables are required, you will be required to have them on or the road side assistance staff will not allow you to drive into town. However from previous year's experiences, the latter half of March sees less snow fall in the lower altitudes entering Mammoth. We are hoping this will be the case, but if you wish to be safe than sorry, we recommend either cables or hybrid chain/cables since these are much easier to install.

Question

What if it snows and I don’t have chains or cables?

Answer

The best way to get up to Mammoth Lakes if the main road requires chains and cables, is to park your car at the Bishop Airport (about $15 a day), and then take a bus from the airport up to Mammoth. If you are able, packing a set of chains, hybrid chains, or cables would be best, since there will be CHP workers who will help you put the chains on in such weathers.
