We're Getting Married

Timo and Maia first met at a Bible study that was being hosted by the church they attended. Maia was the president of the College Student Campus Ministry, and Timo was involved in the Young Professionals Ministry. Maia ended up sitting next to Timo at the Bible study, and thought that saying hello and introducing herself would be a nice gesture. They started to talk, and Maia instantly heard Timo's accent. So, out of curiosity Maia thought she would ask where Timo was from, but that did not roll over well. Timo responds back, "Where are you from? You have an accent too." This was a conversation killer for Maia. But this would not be the last time they would see each other. About a week after the two had met at Bible study, they crossed paths at the gym. Now, this was a rare occasion for Maia because she always went to the gym in the morning, never in the evening. So, when the two saw each other they would hold a brief conversation, then they exchanged numbers. After exchanging numbers, they would begin to talk to one another quite often. They eventually started to realize that they shared many similar interests—one being History. As Timo and Maia continued to learn more about each other, they thought it would be a good idea to go out on a date; the first date would be playing a game of basketball. After this date, they both realized how competitive they were, and how much fun they had together. Because they enjoyed the first date so much, they would continue to explore restaurants and places Downtown State College to see what would come out of their bonding. As you might guess, the two started to like one another, despite the short month they had known each other. But on April 28, 2019 Timo would ask Maia to be his girlfriend. This was exciting news for the both of them, but this would be the start to their long-distance relationship. They spent many months apart, but they would find creative ways to continue to grow their relationship. From long FaceTime calls, monthly visits, movie nights over Zoom, 5 a.m. prayer, and going on new adventures, they worked to keep the bond connected by making the choice to love one another. After 2 1/2 years of dating, on April 15, 2022 Timo asked Maia to be his wife. Now, they are joining together to build a life full of love and memories, as they embark upon marriage. Timo and Maia are so excited to see how God is going to work through their union. Their love story has many pieces, but they are all now coming together becoming one masterpiece as they will soon become one. "For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh." Genesis 2:24
