We're getting married!

Long before Maia and Zach ever met, their story had already begun—at a summer camp in Pennsylvania where their moms met and became best friends. Shawn lived in New Jersey, Carolyn in New York, but distance didn’t matter. Every summer was filled with visits, road trips, and sleepovers that turned friendship into family. Naturally, when Shawn and Carolyn started families of their own, Maia and Zach became family friends. Zach was technically at Shawn and Darren’s wedding—though, to be fair, he was still in Carolyn’s belly at the time (but reports confirm the food was excellent!). Growing up, Maia’s family would make the drive to New York, and Zach’s family would head to Pennsylvania. There were birthday parties, amusement park ice creams, apple-picking afternoons, snowball fights, tractor rides and all the little adventures that blend into one long, golden childhood memory. Maia’s family felt like Zach’s second home, and Zach’s family felt like Maia’s. Then, life happened. Maia’s family moved to Austin when she was ten, and the regular visits turned into occasional reunions at bar and bat mitzvahs and eventually lost touch. The last time Maia and Zach saw each other was at Zach’s sister Alanna’s bat mitzvah—and then, 15 years went by. Thanks to some good old-fashioned Jewish networking, Maia found out Zach was single. Over a round of drinks between Zach’s Aunt Liz, Uncle Gary and Cousin (and future Best Man) Mike, and Maia’s parents, Shawn and Darren, Maia found out that Zach was single. So, she did what any modern romantic would do: she slid into his DMs. One message led to another, and soon there were late-night texts, phone calls that lasted hours, FaceTime dates full of laughter—and then Maia hopped on a plane to JFK (with a dream and a cardigan). That weekend in Brooklyn was pure magic. They walked, they talked, they laughed so hard it hurt—and somewhere between bagels and bedtime, they fell in love. After over a year of long-distance love, Zach packed up and moved to Austin, joining Maia and her loyal boxer pup, Tate. And in March of 2025, Zach brought things full circle—proposing to Maia on the rooftop of his old Brooklyn apartment, where they’d shared that first unforgettable weekend. Now, Maia and Zach can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter of their love story with all of you—family, friends, all the people who’ve been part of this story from the very beginning. April 2026 can’t come soon enough!
