There are several trails to climb Mount Cardigan and Firescrew which start at the lodge! Additional trailheads can be found at Cardigan Mountain State Park in Orange. Cardigan is a bald peak with beautiful views at the summit. Please note that these trails are fairly strenuous and have places with difficult scrambles and/or slippery rocks. If you want to attempt them, we highly recommend hiking boots, water, and allocating plenty of time.
This is an Audubon wildlife sanctuary is next to Newfound Lake, a beautiful glacial lake. There are several easy trails leading from here, which range from 1/3 mile to 1 mile in length. These trails lead through a variety of habitats and offer many opportunities to see the local birds and trees!
If you don't want to hike, we're fairly near the Lake Winnipesaukee area! There are many things to do there, including a boat museum, the Canterbury Shaker Village, boat rentals, shopping, and restaurants. We should also be in the middle of fall foliage, so you can consider a scenic drive!
