Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center (Islands & Ocean)

Located directly next to the Aspen Suites, the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center is a great family-friendly stop. Follow a paved trail and boardwalk to view bald eagles and shorebirds, or head indoors for exhibits like a Bering Sea bird rookery, Aleutian artifacts, and biologist field camps.

True North Kayak Adventures

Explore the Seaside- True North Kayak Adventures offer breathtaking views of coastal Alaska. Common sightings include sea otters, eagles, seals, and occasionally whales. All levels are welcome.

Pratt Museum and Park

Learn about Homer’s History- The Pratt Museum is dedicated to the art, ecology, Native cultures, and local history of the Kenai Peninsula. The museum is set on 9.8 acres of well-kept grounds and with hands-on exhibits and a large kid area, this small museum is great for everyone.

Ptarmigan Arts

Downtown Homer - Downtown Homer is strung along Pioneer Avenue on a sloping hill between high bluffs and the Kachemak Bay. This area of town is home to lots to do and shop. Check out Jars of Clay Pottery, Ptarmigan Arts, and the Fireweed Gallery.

Homer Spit

This 4.5-mile long needle of land stretches halfway across Kachemak Bay. It’s a hub for coffee shops, halibut charters, and shopping. Visit them all! Personal favorites include Fleet & Flagship, Salty Girls, AK Starfish Co., Alaska Salt Co., and Homer Clayworks.

A few favorite stores in Homer are outside the tourist traps. Absolutely visit Salt and Pine in Old Town Homer (not kid-friendly) and the original Salmon Sisters location in a standalone building off Ocean Drive.
