Like all great modern love stories, ours began with a right swipe. Less than a month after arriving in Canada, Mahdis decided to test the waters of Tinder, and as fate (or algorithmic genius) would have it, Ryan appeared—along with a very important third wheel: Damion, the dog. For our “first date,” Ryan, being the smooth operator he is, showed up with Damion as his ultimate wingman, and we went on a dog walk. (Because nothing says romance like picking up after a dog together, right?) Did sparks fly instantly? Who knows! Did we plan it that way? Absolutely not. But as we walked, chatted, and watched a beautiful sunset, something just clicked. Maybe it was the fresh air, maybe it was Damion’s approval, or maybe it was just meant to be. Looking back, we have no idea who made the first move or when we officially realized this was something special.
