How We Met

*In Michael's Words: It was a cold winter day in Cibolo Texas, and I had just gotten back to the city for Thanksgiving break. During this week long break, all I desired was to lift, eat, sleep and relax... turns out life had other plans. Being invited to a friend-of-the-family Thanksgiving party I was quick to socialize. Anyone who knows me knows that I can be the life of the party... and for those who don't agree, they are liars. As I scanned the dining room for familiar faces I noticed the usual family-friends were there, but to my surprise there was an additional family there I hadn't seen before. This new family was like any other typical Filipino family... loud; to make matters worse there were 3 of them... ALL GIRLS. Sizing up each one individually I began to make my first impressions of each one; I learned their names and a little bit about each one. I did what I normally would do in situations like these and made people laugh... (Most of the time at the expense of my own). I don't really remember everything that happened that night but must have made a good impression because when it was time to leave, I was successful in getting Melanie's number. At the time I didn't think it would get to where we are now, but life works in mysterious ways.

The Engagement

*From the words of Michael... again. So we had been dating for the best part of about 6 years when I decided it was time to pop the question. But of course, like all marriage proposals I had seen in the movies, the actual "event" had to be memorable. First thing was to figure out what kind of ring I should buy, I did all the research I could on the different kinds, cuts, and materials of wedding rings. I asked her sisters, her mother, even my co-workers for recommendations on the "perfect ring". After countless hours of searching I had finally found it, the ring was not too complex, nor was it simple; this ring embodied the "simple yet elegant", persona. She would absolutely adore it. Next it was to ask for permission from her folks as well as notify my dad and brothers of my upcoming decision to ask Melanie to marry me. This part was easy, I quickly received Melanie's parents blessing after they realized how committed (and awesome) I was for their daughter. The location of where to pop the question was the trickiest to figure out. Watching all the RomCom movies, everyone knows that proposals must be done at the perfect location, and if you know me I'm not anywhere near as complex as that. But for the love of Melanie I decided to be as cheesy as possible, and what better way to do it than in Disneyworld.... during the fireworks. Ring, Blessing, and Location (ALL CHECK) THE STAGE WAS SET I flew Melanie out to Orlando, Florida and on February 8th, and after a fun exhausting day at Magic Kingdom while the fireworks were going off I got down on one knee and asked Melanie to marry me. I don't really remember what song was playing or who was watching because I was SUPER nervous, but I do remember that she said YES!!! And the rest is history :)
