Shelby and I met through my brother, Andrew, when I was new to West Nashville. Shelby offered to meet up for Saturday morning coffee to introduce me to the area. Our short friendly coffee chat turned into a walk around Midtown and we ended up talking for five hours as we enjoyed the spring day and developed a fast friendship. We followed up on the instant connection with a hike around Percy Warner Park the next day (the first of many!) Our early adventures exploring the Nashville area swiftly set us down the winding path of developing our friendship and love for one another.
After a year of memories and adventures, including a move to Chicago, a new job, a year of grad school, and an unanticipated early March slowdown, Shelby and I returned to Bell’s Bend Farm outside of Nashville for an evening picnic. The previous spring, Shelby and I held hands under the stars and talked about the future at Bell’s Bend for the first time. A year later and this time under a late spring rainbow, I popped the question and Shelby said yes!
