meeting

//

Maggy // I was 13 years old, eternally single, and homesick as hell. Through New Life Church, my family and I requested the help of some strong young men to help move us into our first rental house here, after moving up from Florida. Phillip and a few of his brothers showed up. I remember wanting to get to know him better because of how cute he was. Phillip // I got asked to help a family move into their rental house. They were fresh from Florida, and I was determined to impress their cute youngest daughter with how strong I was.

getting together

//

Maggy // We became best friends. I really, really liked him, but didn't want to ruin our friendship by telling him. I thought he was WAY too good for me. After 2 years of friendship, he started holding my hand. I remember my heart beating out of my chest the first time, goosebumps everywhere. It was under a blanket whilst we were watching a Muppet's Christmas Carol. After that, we slowly admitted our feelings for each other, and here we are. Phillip // I had always liked her, she was funny and cute and laughed at my dumb jokes. It was after 2 years that I finally worked up the courage to hold her hand. I remember the first time she said she loved me was an accident, she meant to say she liked me. She looked so relieved when I said I loved her back.

proposing

//

Maggy // We had previously discussed getting married when we were older and more financially stable; he was in a metalworking class and thinking about making us rings. I was with my sister Kimberly in Hot Topic and saw a set of Doctor Who rings that said 'Together Forever' 'Through Time And Space'. I bought them on a whim. We were sitting on bar stools in the lobby of Chick-fil-A and discussing him making me a ring. I said, 'You could make me a ring, sure... Or you could accept this one.' He said yes, and we ordered more official engagement rings [the Doctor Who ones turned our fingers green]. Phillip // We talked about getting married once we were both finished up with college. It was in the back of my head to propose sometime, but, turns out, she did it first.

home

//

Maggy // I have grown to love it here more than I miss my hometown. I will always be a Southern Florida girl, but my heart has made its home here. I love him with all that I am. He is one of the most caring, adoring, supportive, capable people I have ever known. I am awestruck everyday that he wants to be with me for eternity. He has become my home. Phillip // It’ll always be home in Washington. But really anywhere I’m with her I’ll be happy and home.
