We're hoping to have as many people as possible stay on Peaks for the weekend to get the full island experience! We recommend booking Airbnbs on Peaks early, as they tend to book up quickly. If you prefer to stay on the mainland, there are many options for hotels and Airbnbs in Portland. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Maggie or Mark with questions about securing housing!
September is shoulder season in Maine, but closer to summer weather. It generally stays fairly warm (70-85 degrees during the day), and can still be a bit humid this time of year. Peaks Island tends to be ~5-10 degrees cooler than the mainland. Storms may pass through, and we could either have warm nights or chilly ones. We recommend bringing layers and a rain jacket (just in case!).
We love your young ones, but we have a hunch you'll have more fun celebrating without them. Kids under 10 won't be invited to the ceremony or reception. If you need childcare recommendations on Peaks Island or in Portland, please reach out to Mark and Maggie directly.
Peaks is walkable -- all wedding-related destinations and most Airbnbs are located within one mile. We'll also have a bus transporting people from The Ferry Landing to the Venue and back. So you don't need your own wheels on the island, but if you do prefer to have a vehicle to get around, you can either rent a golf cart from Peaks Island Golf Carts ($250/day) or bring your car on the ferry (reservation needed, $80 for round trip ticket). See Lodging and Transportation page for more details.
