Our love story starts with two people with a love of sports who happened to work for a minor league baseball team. We met in the fall of 2021 at a dinner intended to get Nick to come work for the minor league team in Wichita, Kansas. Nick saw Maggie and said, “I need to know more about this girl.’ Maggie on the other hand, thought he was a nice, good-looking guy with a big smile but thought nothing romantic about him. Fast forward into the baseball season, we would interact with each other at work and occasional late nights after games at the Monarch (bar/restaurant by stadium) with coworkers ended with the two of us as the last ones there. A simple work relationship (at least for Maggie), turned into something much more towards the end and following the 2022 season. Nick would love to say he made the first move (he tried on one or more occasion), but ultimately it was Maggie taking a chance when out late letting Nick know that she would happily be his date at any future weddings he had (basically invited herself); Nick couldn’t stop smiling while walking Maggie home. After months of keeping our romance/feelings towards each other under wraps, we had our first date in December 2022 walking around and seeing the Christmas lights at the Botanica Gardens in Wichita ending our night at a brewery for some dinner as we didn’t want the night to end. Since our first date, we have continued to get to know one another and grow our love each day. We have worked together, attended weddings, attended sporting events, gone on road trips, visited National Parks, climbed mountains (literally), and made the decision to move to Iowa together. We wouldn’t be where we are without that very first dinner and we hope to have many more memorable dinners and events in the next chapter of our love story.
