It was a party like so many others. Second semester senior year at the University of Maryland, Ben arrived promptly on time (before anyone else) to a party Maggie's roommate was throwing. Within twenty minutes, Maggie and Ben were competing in games. When Maggie won, Ben approached and challenged her on not wearing any shoes to the party. Of course, Maggie responded strongly, and noted she had just cleaned the floors, and she was in her own home. Ben did not care, and doubled down. In response, Maggie stormed off to put on shoes and then proceed to stomp around him. The rest of the night was spent at Bently's laughing and joking. Ben waited until the last possible second to get her phone number, good thing he did!
On December 14th 2019, Maggie and Ben engaged in a debate of whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie. Little did Maggie know her friends and family were on their way to Baltimore to surprise her. As they watched Die Hard (Ben won the argument), Ben paused the movie to tell Maggie that he had an early Christmas gift for her. As she opened a special Christmas ornament engraved with "Will you marry me?", Ben got down on one knee. Over a glass of champagne, Ben said they had reservations for the two of them at Cunningham's. When they arrived, Maggie and Ben's families were there to surprise Maggie and celebrate with the couple. After dinner, they arrived back at their apartment to a surprise engagement party with all their close friends and family. Dan and Sarah, co-maid of honors, worked tirelessly to create a beautiful evening with drinks, laughter and love.
