Ladies: Colorful dress, romper, jumpsuit; sandals or wedges. Men: Chinos, dress shorts, short- or long-sleeved button downs, no jacket or tie necessary; loafers. Please note the ceremony will take place on the beach and despite the heat, Cabo San Lucas can be breezy in the evenings, so consider packing a sweater or jacket.
The resort is family friendly, with six different pools including three shallow children's sections. We respectfully request no children at the wedding ceremony and reception.
All food and drinks at 12 restaurants and 7 bars as well as in-suite dining are included in the price, with few exceptions for upgrade options. There are two sister properties (Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos/Blanco and Rose) 15 minutes away, on swimmable Medano Beach, where restaurants and bars are also included. Tips are technically included in the price but we generally tip in USD cash throughout the stay. Activities such as spa treatments, golfing, or offsite excursions are additional charges.
We will be at the resort at least Wednesday, May 8, through Monday, May 13. We are planning an optional cocktail reception Thursday evening, wedding events Friday evening, and a casual pool day Saturday.
The resort offers 744 junior and executive suites spread across 45 buildings. Typically at check-in, several locations are offered for guests to choose which area of the resort they prefer. There is one large, central tower with elevators near the lobby and food hall. Most other villas are 3-5 stories with stairs. If an elevator is important to you, mention it at check-in. The resort provides golf cart shuttles 24 hours a day.
We recommend you book a shuttle from the SJD airport to Sunset Beach prior to your arrival. In Cabo, there are Shared shuttles and Private shuttles. Shared shuttles: You pay per person and you may have to wait for the shuttle to fill up and make multiple stops. Private shuttles: you get an SUV that is normally a single price for up to 5 people. Private shuttles are quicker and often include a few beers and waters on your ride to the resort. The more people you have, the better deal the private shuttle is. For us the private shuttle is usually worth it even if it's only two of us. Private shuttles we have used and recommend: Cabo Airport Shuttle (caboairportshuttle.net - $170 total round trip) Eliker Transfer (elikertransfer.com - $175 total round trip) Shared shuttle options: Gray Line (graylineloscabos.com - $44 per person round trip) Cabo Transfers (cabotransfers.com - $50 per person round trip) Direct through Pueblo Bonito (pueblobonito.com/airport-transportation - $56 per person round trip. Note: they only have a few shuttles per day and may not be able to easily accommodate your flight times.) Reminder: There are multiple Pueblo Bonito resorts, please make sure to select "Sunset Beach" when choosing your shuttle destination. If you are looking to share a private shuttle with someone else coming to the wedding, let us know and we may be able to connect people up based on flight times.
Our favorite food options at the resort are Tazuna (Sushi / Japanese / seafood focus), Zao Shen (Asian fusion), The Market (food hall with everything, gelato, coffee), The Bistro (breakfast) The Pueblo Bonito app comes in handy for restaurant menus (the market especially) and if you want to book the shuttle to Rosé, the sister resort by Medano Beach. Favorite pools: Sky Pool (high energy, great view), Pool 17 / “kids” pool, Pool 26. The Main pool by the beach is nice but it can be difficult to find lounge chairs. All-inclusive: The resort was originally a timeshare property before offering all-inclusive, so rooms are not assumed to be all inclusive and pre-stocked with beverages. We typically order extra bottles of water and cans of beer when we wrap up at a pool, bar, or restaurant to bring back to the room fridge. You can also order drinks and bottled water from room service. Because of the timeshare option, you'll see prices on all menus. All inclusive guests can mostly ignore that because it is the price for the non AI guests. Staff will start a tab when you order food or drinks, and then you need to “sign out” using your wristband. If you order anything that is an extra charge, it will be explicitly mentioned on the menu and by the server. When you sign out everything should net out to zero. Tipping: Gratuities are included, but we generally tip cash as well. If we know we're going to be at a pool for a while, we'll tip up front and again when we close out. We don't tip for every single drink. At leisurely meals, we’ll tip $5 to $10 for the two of us. We bring small bills in USD to tip in cash. The resort does offer a currency exchange to pesos if you desire, but we've never used it and can't vouch for the exchange rate. You have the option to add tip to your room charge when you close out of tabs, but then you have to verify that at checkout.
Sister resorts: if you have the time, going to the sister resorts on Medano beach by the arches is a great option for a few hours. There's a free shuttle from The Market at Sunset Beach to Pueblo Bonito Rosè. You can book that in person at the market or through the Pueblo Bonito phone app. If the shuttle is fully booked a Taxi to that area is ~ $15. Highly recommend getting a drink and a bite at Cilantro's at Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos (Blanco) if you're down there. Great view and your Sunset Beach All-Inclusive works there. For late night, there's “The After” that is attached to the Market. Sports on TV with either a DJ or karaoke at night If you get asked to do the “presentation” or “breakfast” by staff, this is the timeshare presentation. We always say no, or just lie and say we've done it already. You're most likely to be approached about this in the main building (check-in, luggage, or The Bistro) Transportation: We recommend booking ground transportation before you arrive. Uber and Lyft cannot pick up at the airport or resort. If you're off-site, you can use Uber or Lyft to get back to the resort. Check-in: When you check-in, confirm they have you in your desired bed choice (King or two queens). There is normally some flexibility in which building they put you in. You can ask if you have a specific location you would like to be in. Checkout: checkout is at 11 am. Your all-inclusive package works until noon on your checkout day. You can remain at the resort and use the amenities after.
