Our Story

~Poetry Edition~

Just seven minutes apart we grew, Yet somehow we never had a clue. That one day we'd be side by side, Preparing to become groom and bride. Our parents thought they'd lend a hand, And helped our story to begin. With some reluctance, Trey gave in, And soon long conversations began. A little talking, a date was set, At Logan's Steakhouse, where we met. From that night on, it was easy to see, We were exactly where we were meant to be. Our grandmas had been friends for years, A detail that still brings us cheer. For all that time we lived so near, Yet never met until the moment was here. One dinner turned to every day, And neither one could stay away. On June twentieth, twenty-two, We made it official—we were through and through. Then college came with miles apart, But distance couldn't shake our hearts. From UNC to WCU, And Charleston too—we made it through. Trey cheered for Maggie on the field, His loyal fan status firmly sealed. Through soccer games and busy days, We found countless reasons to celebrate. Good food, great laughs, and music too, Became our favorite things to do. And when Maggie gave Trey his first guitar, It sparked a hobby that's carried us far. Through graduations, dreams, and school, We learned that teamwork was the rule. And while PA school took its toll, Trey stood beside her, heart and soul. Then in Asheville, among flowers in bloom, A proposal arrived that afternoon. On April twenty-fourth, twenty-six, Trey asked forever—and Maggie said yes. So here we are, with joy and cheer, Excited for what's drawing near. On May first, twenty-seven, we'll say "I do," And start forever—just us two. Who would've thought that all this time, The perfect match was close by? It took our parents and God's guiding hand, To bring us together just as He planned.
