Spencer caught Maggie's eye over 10 years ago while they were both at a local horse show, Spencer as a member of the crew and Maggie as a competitor. Although they had never officially met much less exchanged names, Maggie developed a serious crush and nicknamed this nameless gentleman "Rake Boy". Given the fact that both were teenagers at the time, neither decided to make the first move. Fast forward a few years, both Maggie and Spencer attended Virginia Tech, their paths crossing only one night at a bar named Big Als. At the time, nothing came of this casual encounter other than becoming Facebook friends, initiated by Maggie of course. But finally in 2017, 3 years later, Spencer sent Maggie a simple 2 word Facebook message and there began their story.

Spencer took Maggie to their favorite place in the world, Oak Island, NC, for her birthday celebration. On a beautiful Friday evening having cocktails on the beach, they walked to the very most point of the island where Spencer got down on one knee and asked Maggie to marry him. In the midst of tears from both with a stunning sunset in the background, Maggie said yes to her best friend!
