first date

"love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space"

Spoiler: we won the dating app jackpot (hopefully not the only jackpot where we hit it big). after giving Maggie a hard time for her dislike of coffee and love of hot chocolate, Kris set plans for a quick meet and drink in Rosemont's entertainment center. Maggie was a few minutes early, while Kris was a few minutes late allowing a random man to believe Maggie was his blind date. luckily, Kris arrived and Maggie was not only excited to see him but relieved. one drink led to another until they were looking up showtimes for Interstellar. they walked and talked until the movie time neared, and they settled in for the near three hour film. a walk to the car and a kiss goodnight set us up for the rest of their lives. (fun fact: we ended up seeing Interstellar at least five times in theaters that fall)

elopement

stars align

Maggie was all set to head to Germany with her nanny family until plans changed. instead, she was left with eleven days to plan a dream road trip vacation from San Francisco to Big Sur to Yosemite. flights were booked, AirBNBs were reserved, and the waiting ensued. one day while watching the office wedding episode, the idea sparked to use one of our days for our elopement ceremony. skipping right over engagement and traditions, we pieced together the dream day in Big Sur. after getting ready individually, we accidentally ran into each other. Kris was in his groom's attire which almost made us late for our flight, and Maggie was wearing her favorite color teal on a velvet gown. gifted a bouquet from a vendor on the side of the road, everything came together. after a glass of wine and the final touch of Irish linen in Kris' suit jacket, we headed out to explore Big Sur and find a peaceful spot to say our vows. we descended from our mountainside cabin through the marine layer and followed the Big Sur coastline to McWay Falls. from there we ventured down to Lucia and Sand Dollar Beach. It was where the ocean met the land that we said our vows. overlooking the coastline and soaking it all in, it was better than we could have dreamed or planned. a peaceful day full of joy and bliss, which ended with us back in the house cooking fish and pasta before stargazing under the Milky Way. we can't wait to share our photos and the details of our day with you.
