How We Met

1/16/2010

[As told by Maggie] It was our freshmen year of college. We were both juggling a full time schedule of school work, sports and trying to maintain a social life. Besides sport, the social life aspect took up most of Junior's time, whereas the school work took up more of mine :D. It wasn't until January of our freshmen year that the two of us actually met. There was nothing romantic regarding us first seeing each other.. no looking into each other's eyes, no him taking my hand and softly kissing it, no in depth conversation about love at first sight or looking at the stars. I was going out with my teammates after a huge OAC win in the second half of my basketball season. Junior was going out with some of his friends, looking forward to another night of vibing with the guys and flirting with some honey's (yes plural, honey'S). We were both having a great time, probably me more than him ;) when my friend and his friend introduced us to each other. It was at the end of the night at this point so I was clocked out and ready to go bed (I get cranky when I'm tired). We shook hands quick, exchanged names and smiles, and that was it. I turned around and walked out of the house to go home with my roommates. Of course the next day I had a Facebook DM from Junior. We talked and hung out almost everyday after that until 2 years later when we eventually started officially dating and the rest was history. One of our favorite memories from college in the very early stages of our friendship was playing in a snowstorm of 3 feet of snow, something he would not normally do, but would do anything to hang out with me a little more :).

The Proposal

12/30/2019

Junior's family was in Marietta for one of my basketball tournaments over Christmas break. After my game, Junior wanted both my family and his family to go out to a nice restaurant. He picked The Lafayette Hotel, a very historical hotel with very good food. Before dinner, we went to the rooftop to take pictures. We were about to take a picture together when he got down on one knee and popped the question. Then of course we popped champagne!
