Update

We had a beautiful and intimate wedding ceremony on August 28, 2020. While we wish everyone who was originally invited could have been there, we cannot wait to have a night of celebration, good food, and dancing with all of our cherished family members and friends at our reception this May!

How We Met

November 2016

November 2016 was a very special month in Joe's life.....the Chicago Cubs finally won the World Series! Little did he know, the Cubs winning wasn't even close to the most important event to happen to him that November. A few weeks later, after being matched on the dating app Coffee Meets Bagel, Joe and Maggie met. On their first date they went to an "eclectic" dive bar, which was not the original meeting spot they had agreed upon. Joe changed the plans at the last minute from a much nicer bar because he was afraid he wouldn't be able to hear Maggie (which probably would've been true). Lucky for Joe, he was able to hear Maggie without any issues. They chatted at that little dive bar for hours, and as you all know, the rest is history.

The Proposal

January 2019

In early January 2019, Joe made a reservation for dinner at Lake Park Bistro for what Maggie thought was a nice date night. Their plan was to go to a nice dinner and then grab drinks on the rooftop bar at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel. Little did Maggie know, this was a small part in a much bigger plan. Joe had been scheming an elaborate night so he could finally propose to Maggie. At dinner they were given the best seat in the house and were magically served free champagne "for the wait." When they arrived at the hotel Maggie was so excited to show Joe the rooftop bar at the Kimpton he hadn't been to before. To her surprise, Joe took Maggie to a room filled with her favorite candles, flowers, and champagne. Nestled in a bouquet of flowers was an Austin, Texas postcard reading "I think Austin would be a fun place to celebrate." And when Maggie asked, through tears, "To celebrate what?!" Joe dropped to a knee and proposed. They celebrated their recent engagement in Austin two weeks later.
