Mother of the Bride
Maggie arrived 3 weeks early! When you know the person Maggie is, it ALL makes sense. She was tiny upon arrival, but mighty as always. Maggie was little "Ms. I do it myself." She could move a kitchen chair to get anything she wanted. Maggie was very determined then and she still is to this day. Little "Ms. I do it myself" is about to set out on the biggest adventure of her life. She has planned a beautiful day for her and Jimmy. Mom cannot wait to see what God has in store for their life as a husband and wife. May he guide them and bless them. May he protect them and keep them. Just know, Mom loves you both always. She is so thankful for the gift of a great daughter and now a son.
Father of the Bride
"Naggie" or "I am canceling your life" could be heard often from Maggie's Dad when Maggie would not answer her Mother's texts while away at school. Maggie has a way of relentlessly pushing for her way, which has enabled her to accomplish many things in her life. Either way, Maggie is a wonderful woman who knows what she wants and how she wants life to be. In a birthday card to her dad, Maggie wrote: "She feels safe when Dad is with her. Dad shows her fun things to do. Dad makes her life so much better. She is happy he is her dad." Maggie, your mother knows your dad would say, "You made his life fun and interesting. You made his life so much better. And he is happy you are his daughter." Maggie's Mom is positive her dad would tell her, "Jimmy will keep you safe, Jimmy will make your life better and Jimmy will be a wonderful husband to you."
Mother of the Groom
It feels like just yesterday that Nancy was watching her firstborn son and his Dad walking along the beach together…and now Jimmy is walking down the aisle with Maggie. God is good! And we are so grateful that Jimmy has found someone who shares his kind nature, honesty, generosity and love of family. And the two as a couple make those attributes even stronger and more apparent. Jimmy has been a true joy from day one; it’s a blessing to have a daughter now…. one who shares our love for Jimmy and extends that love to all of our family. This is a very happy time!
Father of the Groom
Jim’s son Jimmy has been a true blessing in their lives. Jimmy has brought Jim & Nancy much joy and happiness over the last 30 years. Jimmy has been fortunate to have been surrounded by a great extended family, from his Granny, his grandparents, his aunts & uncles, all his cousins, and many friends. Nancy, Steve, Joey & Jim have enjoyed the journey with Jimmy from watching him play sports, going on vacations, attending sporting events, and gathering together for family fun. Jimmy is as kind and caring as any man Jim has met. Jimmy will make a great husband to Maggie and a terrific father to their children. Maggie brings many of the same great attributes into their future together, in addition to her abundance of humor, generosity, and kindness. It's been an honor and privilege to get to know Maggie, her mother Laurie, and their entire family. Jim prays that God keeps Jimmy & Maggie safe and happy over the many wonderful years that lie ahead of them. Remember, to always love one another, be kind to each other and always be each other’s best friend! Love, Dad

Megan and Maggie have been sisters and besties… well all of Maggie’s life! From sitting with Maggie on bad days in kindergarten to having Maggie join in on activities with her friends, Megan and Maggie built a close sisterly bond. Now don’t let those fool you though, as sisters do, Megan and Maggie had their share of ups and downs which may or may not include knocked-out teeth and broken dishwashers. We won’t get too into those times though! Megan cannot wait to stand next to Maggie and Jimmy and see her baby sister marry the man of her dreams. How perfect that another “Jim” can help heal a heart that is missing a different Jim. Truly a blessing sent from daddy up in heaven. Megan wants Maggie to know that she'll always be “your girl” and that you will always be “my girl” forever and forever! Love you!

Maggie and Rachel met in the 5th grade as they bonded over going to the library to pick out reading Olympics books….funny because now, neither of them has likely read a book for fun in a long time 😂 Over the years Maggie and Rachel did everything together. School, friend groups, and sports. Some of their strongest memories were created while doing competitive cheerleading. They also have a bond where they could look at each other and make a decision in a seconds notice like at high school cheerleading tryouts, which likely landed them on the varsity team as freshmen. Since then the two have shared high highs and some of life’s lowest lows together but their friendship through it all makes them who they are today.
Groomsman
Jimmy, “jimmy kid”, and Cody go way back to their middle school days when they were on the same baseball and football teams. Both of their competitive natures and love for sports quickly brought them close together and Cody knew very soon that Jimmy would be one of his lifelong best friends. Cody could go on for a while about dozens of sports memories that Jimmy and Cody experienced together, but Cody wants to highlight one memory that sums them up as teammates, but also best friends. During their senior year of football, they upset one of the top teams in the state in the first round of the playoffs, and then they had another big win the following week before eventually losing in the quarterfinals. After our second-round win, the Daily Herald news article title read “Palatine’s 1-2 punch knocks out Glenbrook S.” and the opening quotes read, “Where would Palatine be without quarterback Cody Bobbit? Where would Bobbit be without Jim Smearman?” The short answer would be Cody wouldn’t be who he is today without Jimmy. Jimmy was the best man at his wedding, and he couldn’t be more excited to stand by his side on his wedding day to celebrate him and his perfect bride, Maggie. Cody loves you both.
Bridesmaid

Jimmy and Danny have been friends since 3rd grade when he moved over from his private school to Virginia Lake. At first, Danny and the other kids didn’t like this new kid but Jimmy wanted to play football with them so they gave him a chance. They quickly found out how athletic Jimmy was and knew they needed him in their friend group. From that day forward Jimmy and Danny have been best friends. So much so that during high school they would go back to Jimmy's house after early bird gym on late start days (if they actually made it to early bird gym) and take their naps together at Jimmy's house. Best part is they still would be late to school even if Jimmy did live directly across the street. Jimmy is one of the most kind and genuine people Danny has ever met and he has helped to smooth out some of Danny's rough edges. There isn’t a better person to have in your corner or to have in the trenches with you while doing life than Jimbo.

Maggie and Anna initially met in college through the one and only Gamma Phi Beta. They had the same major (shoutout to all the PR girlies) so in addition to all things GPhi, Maggie was a familiar face when it came to classes and never-ending study sessions at Milner. Although college started their friendship, their friendship really grew after college (especially weekends at the lake circa 2020). They’ve both had their share of ups and downs over the years, but no matter the situation Maggie is a ride or die through it all. She’s the kindest, most supportive, and most selfless person and is truly a blessing to have as a friend.

Michela and Maggie met one of the first few nights of joining their sorority at ISU and the rest is history. From spending spring breaks together to being roommates their senior year & practically with each other every moment in between (and way too many Starbucks runs) they formed a special bond. Maggie was often hyping Michela to come out by using one of her many motivational sayings - “Would you rather regret not going out and making memories? Or not do well on an exam?” And that was usually all Maggie had to say to get Michela out! Maggie and Michela have shared both happy and sad tears throughout the years, but the one thing that has never changed is their true and constant friendship. One of the things that Michela and Maggie often talked about was getting married and meeting their person. Michela is so excited to be part of Maggie and Jimmy’s special day & be a testament to their love. Now it’s Michela’s turn to be Maggie’s hype woman!

Fast forward 18 years at Illinois State University, the two finally met when Meredith and her roommate accidentally stumbled upon Maggie’s floor at Watterson Towers. From there, the girls went through recruitment together and both ended up in Gamma Phi Beta. Seeing Jimmy for the first time on August 4th 1993 was by far my best birthday present ever.
