Where is King George, Virginia?

Answer

King George County, Virginia is the "Gateway to the Historic Northern Neck." The County is located approximately 18 miles due East of Fredericksburg, along Route 3. From Washington, D.C., you have two options: I-95 through Virginia (72 miles) or 301 through Maryland (61 miles). From Richmond, again you have two options: I-95 to 301 (62 miles) or 301 (59 miles). I'm arriving from out of town, how should I arrange transportation?

Answer

Thank you for coming all this way! We recommend flying into Richmond International Airport (RIC) or Reagan International Airport (DCA) - both are approximately the same distance from the hotel block in Fredericksburg, VA, but please note that traffic from RIC may be easier to navigate. We recommend renting a car to get to Fredericksburg from the airport, and better yet, carpooling. Our hotel block is located in downtown Fredericksburg, and we will provide transportation to the wedding and back via shuttle.

What is the dress code?

Cocktail attire! Think garden party! For attire guidance: please refer to this article in Brides Magazine: https://www.brides.com/cocktail-attire-wedding-4844364 DC and Virginia are usually still warm during the middle of September, but the temperature may drop in the evening. So, watch that weather app!

Why the kind of shoes you wear matter.

Answer

The entire evening will happen outdoors, which means grass footing. If you would like to wear heels, we recommend something with a block, wedge, or platform heel to avoid sinking into the grass. If you forget or would rather wear a stiletto-type heel, we will have heel caps in various sizes available.

What if it rains? Where will we go? What shall we do?

Answer

And you are so right to be concerned, as we can never be sure. If the skies do decide to open up on our day, we will go with our rain plan for the ceremony and will be in touch with everyone. The reception will still be at Oaken Brow, since the tents have sidewalls to protect us from getting wet.
