How We Met

8/6/2018

I met Ben on my first day working at Naked Lime Marketing. He was part of a mentorship program to help new hires get settled in. We had lunch together with a group of other newbies on that first day. I scheduled as many training classes as I could with him over the next few weeks, as an excuse to see him and spend hours chatting and talking. We had an instant connection. We got to know each other pretty well during work hours, texting back and forth and hanging out with mutual friends. I felt like I had known him for years. When he finally asked me to go on a date in early October, we were inseparable. On that first date, we went to a friend’s housewarming party, and then all the way up to the Minster Oktoberfest, over 100 miles in the car. We sang show tunes, made jokes, and started falling in love. It poured rain, turning Oktoberfest into a mud pit and we still had an amazing time. Fastforward to Valentine’s Day, our first one as a couple. We found out we were pregnant with Bree! Although it was a huge surprise, we were so thrilled to be starting the family we knew we wanted together. Ben asked me to marry him with a ring he custom designed, after a dinner at my favorite restaurant. He played our song, “Rainbow Connection”, and asked me to be his wife, forever and always. We offically tied the knot on August 8th, 2019. It was exactly 1 year and two days since we had met, and almost two months before our precious little girl was born. Although our love story is not traditional, we love it that much more, because it is ours.
