Maggie and Alex first met at Texas A&M in 2011. Alex was mutual friends with some of Maggie’s high school classmates that also went to Texas A&M. They were also both involved in a student run freshmen orientation program called Fish Camp. Having mutual friends and being in the same organization, they ran into each other a few times in college, but never really got to know each other. After graduating they both moved to Houston where they ran into each other a few times at Texas A&M football watch parties. Their friends even tried to set them up once, and Alex went to Maggie’s 27th birthday to celebrate. They were in different places in life and nothing ever came out of it. Maggie moved to College Station for a new job, and Alex continued to live life in Houston. Maggie eventually moved back to Houston in 2019 to continue her work as a Physicians Assistant in GI and her passion for photography. In November of 2021 one of Maggie and Alex’s mutual friends hosted a friendsgiving at their house. At this point it had been 5 years since Maggie or Alex had run into each other. They caught up on their lives and had a wonderful evening. As they were leaving the party Maggie made a joke, “let’s not make if another five years” and they both laughed. Over the next few weeks Maggie hatched a little plan. She was going to invite all of the same high school friends that were at the friendsgiving over to her house for a game night and add Alex to the list as well. Alex was delighted to hear about this game night and couldn’t wait. Alex and Maggie had another wonderful evening getting to catch up and get to know each other more. Alex rightfully suspected Maggie liked him and that next week they went on their first date on January 26, 2022 at Field and Tides. That night was spent laughing so much the waiter commented about it. They continued dating, getting to know each other, countless cooking adventures, trips around the US, and falling in love. On April 22, 2023, Alex and Maggie went for one of their “normal” walks along the Buffalo Bayou before attending a work party for Alex’s company later that evening. Little did Maggie know going to the party was a ruse, as Alex had other plans in motion. During their walk they went inside a garden and under one of the benches was a photo book filled with pictures of Maggie and Alex’s adventures together. They sat on the bench and went through their memories together and Alex got one knee and popped the question! She said YES!!! They finished their walk and Alex revealed they were never going to a work party, but rather a fun night out planned for just the two of them to celebrate. Little did Maggie know, Alex still had one more surprise up his sleeve. They walked to Gristworkz, a local brewery and restaurant a few blocks over from Maggie’s house that they both loved going to and frequented often. Inside Gristworkz were some of Maggie and Alex’s friends and family there to surprise her with a celebration on the engagement! All that’s left now is for them to tie the knot and celebrate with all of their friends and family!
