Yes. We're excited to have so many of our favorite people together in such a special place. All events taking place at Markree Castle from Sunday - Tuesday will be open to all of our guests.
We will have the venue to ourselves for the duration of the wedding celebrations. However, there is limited lodging available onsite so your invitation will include details on where and how to book your room. Some guests will be staying onsite and we've reserved blocks at two nearby hotels with transportation for all wedding events.
We're planning to kick off the celebration at a Dublin pub called The Old Storehouse on Saturday evening. Everyone's invited!
We're excited that many of our guests are looking to turn this trip into a longer vacation. If you're planning to utilize the coach buses we're providing to travel between Markree Castle and Dublin city centre - you'll want to ensure you've arrived in Dublin by Sunday morning and we don't recommend booking a flight out of Dublin before Tuesday evening. Most direct flights back to Chicago on Tuesday leave between 12-2pm, so we would suggest planning to stay in Dublin before flying home on Wednesday.
Yes. Markree Castle is about a 2.5 hour drive from Dublin city centre. We have arranged coach buses to travel to Markree Castle, leaving Dublin city centre around 12pm on Sunday and returning from Markree Castle to Dublin city centre around 3:30pm on Tuesday. You're also welcome to rent a car and travel on your own. There's also a rail line that runs from Silgo to Dublin that has frequent trains if you need to get back to Dublin sooner or need to arrive late to Sunday's festivities.
We love your kids—so much. But we want our wedding to be your night off! We know some of our guests may choose to bring their kiddos and turn this into a family trip. We welcome your little ones to join us for Sunday & Tuesday's events, but we're planning to keep our wedding day festivities adults-only. We'll provide you with information from the venue about onsite, certified babysitting options to help make that a reality.
A fascinator is a headpiece that is often worn by women at weddings in Ireland & the UK. It usually consists of a large decorative design attached to a band or clip. You're welcome to wear one (but it's not required!) & for our American guests, don't worry - you can rent one if you want to. Check out https://jennifershatemporium.ie/

As of June 12, 2022 - Testing is not required to re-enter the United States. There are also currently no testing requirements to enter Ireland, however we recommend that you keep a close eye on this as it could change. Keep an eye on the latest US requirements here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html Keep an eye on the latest Irish requirements here: https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/77952-government-advice-on-international-travel/#travelling-to-ireland If you're looking for testing while abroad, below are options. Rather than wait and hope to find a local place to test, we suggest that our guests bring tests with them (we suggest multiple tests just in case of a defect). We've used Qured + our corporate travel agent suggested eMed as well: eMed (recommended by Delta, American, United) Qured (recommended by American, British Airways) You can easily take these tests in the privacy and comfort of your hotel room. To meet the CDC standard, there must be someone to sanction the test. Therefore, you just need to connect via your computer, tablet or smart phone to your testing service. Once the test is complete they will email you results which you can print and keep on your phone. When you arrive at the airport for your flight, you will share the results with your airline at check in.
