After taking into consideration the current state of the pandemic, the timeline of vaccines, and everyone's concerns about health and safety, we have made the difficult decision to downsize our wedding. While we wish everyone could be there in person, we want to ensure the safety of our friends and family. HOWEVER, we still very much want you to be part of our special day! We have hired a videographer who will capture all of the special moments, from walking down the aisle to our first dance to cutting the cake. We will send each of you the video of our special day so that you can watch it from the safety of your own home. We considered having a livestream of the ceremony, but that would not capture every moment the way a video would. We hope that this will allow all of our guests to participate safely. Please know that this was not an easy decision to make and we value each and everyone of you. We know that you will all be with us in spirit on our wedding day! Love, Caleb and Maggee
It was May 4th, aka Star Wars Day. Instead of partaking in galactic fun with Luke, Han, Leia, and Chewie, I went out to my local Sweet Water Tavern to meet Caleb, a guy I had been talking to on Bumble for several weeks. We hadn't yet met, as, shortly after matching on the app, Caleb left for Texas to surprise his mom for her birthday. A good sign, as you can tell a lot about a man by the way he treats his mom. Walking up to the restaurant, I was greeted by a cute blondie waiting for me with flowers the color of Belle's dress (my favorite princess). The date was off to a great start, and we hadn't even gone inside yet! After introducing ourselves, we ordered lunch - steak and crab cakes, with lots of Ozzie rolls. All too soon, our date was over. I didn't want to say goodbye quite yet, so I mentioned that my friends and I were meeting up at a local brewery if he wanted to join us later. Smiling, Caleb said he'd love to, but he needed to tell me something - he didn't drink. A wide grin broke out on my face, as I said that I didn't drink either. A sigh of relief escaped from Caleb, and he walked me to my car. Later that day, Caleb met me and my friends (#mamakwan) at Caboose Brewery. Amidst conversations with my friends, Caleb and I started to get to know each other, just as Sara, Erin, Lizzy, and Jen (and Mark and Nick and Gabby) also got to know Caleb. Pretty brave of him to meet so many new people while also still trying to get to know this girl he liked right? A few hours later, the party moved to Erin, Lizzy, and Nick's place. I asked Caleb if he wanted to come along, and he agreed. Now that's really gutsy, as game nights can be a pretty serious thing for my groups of friends. Especially when playing group games, like Quiplash, where you really have to know how to read the sense of humor of a crowd. We had a blast though, and even won at Scattegories! As the evening came to an end, I walked Caleb to his car, and he kissed me goodnight. The rest is history!
After a long day at work and a movie night at my friend's house, I walked in the door to Caleb's house. Exhausted, we greeted each other as he heated up a frozen pizza. We had recently gotten Disney Plus, and a Toy Story cartoon was on the television. I sat down on the couch next to Caleb and looked away at the Christmas tree for a minute. The next thing I knew, Caleb was on one knee, with his grandmother's ring in his hand, asking me to marry him. He completely surprised me. I said yes, seven months to the day after our first date. Later, I found out that Caleb's parents had gotten engaged while watching cartoons. A family tradition had started!
