Where it all started...

Dominican Republic, Texas, & California

They were brought together on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. His sister and her mother had no idea just how much the mission trip would forever change their lives. They became fast friends, but did not think much more would come from it as he lived in Texas, and she lived in California. However, they decided to make an effort to stay in contact. Every single day since they met they were either: Facetiming, Skyping, or texting. After a visit to Texas with her mom and 8 months of constant contact, they decided they were indeed more than friends and wanted to give their relationship a real shot. Being the gentleman that Oscar was, he was not just going to ask her out over the phone; he had bigger plans. After fundraising by selling candy to family and friends, he had made enough money to buy a plane ticket to California. Once he arrived in California, he asked her parents for permission to court her and then asked her to be his girlfriend, and obviously she said yes! 2 years of long distance was not easy. Countless flights back and forth to Texas & California, but they made it work. Finally, the distance ended when they attended college together. It was so amazing for them to always be together. So many memories were made!

He pulled out and ring and said....

Easiest "Yes" ever!

One of Oscar’s summer visits to see Lena, they went to the ocean as they usually did as it is one of Lena's favorite places to go and a great way to beat the Cali heat. On this day, Oscar and Lena went to Dillons Beach. Snacks, blankets, shovels & buckets were packed for a fun filled day. Dillons Beach is Lena's favorite beach as she has been going there since childhood. They started the foggy cold morning with a misty walk on the beach. They then found a place to lay down their blankets and enjoy the warm sun and ocean breeze. As the day progressed, Oscar insisted they take pictures. They walked around and looked for a nice spot to take the photos. After taking some on Lena's phone, Oscar asked if he could take some on his. He propped his phone on a rock, as Lena situated herself for the photos, Oscar returned to Lena, he pulled a small box out from his pocket, and knelt down on one knee. Lena looked to the side, seeing Oscar on bended knee and began crying tears of joy. He gave the sweetest speech and then asked her the big question. It could not have been more perfect!
