The Deepwood Estate and Gardens was the childhood home of Douglas’ great grandfather Chandler Brown (Douglas’ middle-namesake). The stunning Beaux Arts-Style Gardens were commissioned by his mother, Alice Bretherton Brown. Upon the completion of the gardens, Alice officially named the property Deepwood, after a favorite children’s book, The Hollow Tree and the Deep Woods by Albert Bigelow Paine.
