We met on hinge! We met up for a cup of coffee at a local bakery. Things started off rocky when Eric showed up late, and split the bill. Fortunately, we had a refreshingly honest conversation and the connection between us was undeniable. Coffee turned into a long lunch where we promptly planned a second date for a few days later. We fell and we fell fast!
The proposal involved a family hike out to my (Eric) favorite spot in upper park. After a long quarantine with Miss Aria (COVID time) we planned a hike to get some fresh air! I tried to be super sneaky with planning and packing up the mega luxurious picnic items for our special feast, but I wasn't fooling Rachel. Aria knew well in advance that I planned to propose. In spite of a recent ankle injury, Aria trooped through a 3 mile roundtrip hike to be present for the proposal. As we arrived to my favorite spot we set up the picnic and I unfolded an extravagant spread. Brie, berries, sandwiches (it's my specialty) and some wine. I asked for a photo prior to wine teeth (again I wasn't fooling anyone), instead of facing the camera and smiling, we hugged. We hugged until I gathered the courage to take a step back, get down on one knee, and propose. Neither of us can remember the exact words I said before I asked because we were both amped up on the adrenaline of the moment. Of course she said "yes!" and after a few photos, before the wine stained teeth, we were able to finally enjoy the wine and the picnic. Rachel, Aria and I were all smiles. Our dedicated photographer Aria captured the moment and needed lots of rest for her ankle after!
