How we met

08/2021

We were both just starting sophomore year in college, still learning our new schedules and where to sit in class. On the second day of class, I showed up a little early and looked around the lecture hall. There were plenty of empty seats, but I saw her sitting there alone and something made me walk over to her. I asked “Is anyone sitting here?” pointing to the seat beside her. "No, go ahead!" she said. We started talking. Small talk at first, classes, professors, campus life, but before we knew it, we were swapping jokes, embarrassing stories, and laughing like old friends. After that, I made sure to get to class early just so I could sit next to her. Suddenly, chemistry was the class I looked forward to most. It didn't take long before we began dating, and falling in love all through our college days.

3 1/2 years later…

He told me to be ready at 9am sharp, no questions asked. When he showed up with a riddle in hand, I knew something fun was coming, but I had no idea how special the day would be. Each clue led us on an adventure through our favorite memories: coffee at our go-to spot, ice cream where we had our first date (yes, at 10am), breakfast at our old college hangout, a stroll through the farmers market, pictures in the botanical gardens, a picnic in the park, and rooftop drinks to top it all off. I was loving every second—and still oblivious. Then came the final riddle, pointing us to our favorite sunset lookout. As the sky turned shades of gold and pink, he started acting a little differently, but I didn’t think much of it. Just when I thought the day couldn’t get any better, he got down on one knee and asked the easiest question I’ve ever answered. I said yes, to the sweetest day, the biggest surprise, and forever with my best friend and love of my life.
