Zach and Madi met during Madi’s senior year of high school. Zach had moved to Washington from Oregon just that previous August, and started attending Rogers. Madi had been managing the boys soccer team at Rogers for several years at that point, and when Zach went to try out for the team, he saw Madi for the first time. He says that when he saw her, his first thought was, “Wow, that is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen” (obviously). A few months later, Madi was talking to their friend Colby, and snapped him and said, “Hey, tell Zach I say hi.” Colby was not with Zach at the time, so he sent Madi’s snapchat username to Zach and he added her very shortly after. Madi of course went on to have a full-on freak out, and texted her 2 best friends Gabby and Emily, who knew how cute Madi thought Zach was (and how good he was at soccer!) We ended up staying up waayyyy too late that first night talking. And the next night…. and the next night……. and the next night……. Ever since that day we have been truly inseparable. Everyone knows, if Madi is invited, Zach is probably also coming and vice versa.
Zach proposed to Madi in Ocean Shores, Washington on their 2-year anniversary. Madi loves the ocean and had dreamed of getting engaged there since Zach and Madi had gone for a day trip the previous year for their first anniversary. Madi had a feeling the proposal was coming because Zach and her best friend Sierra had both been being suspicious the weekend leading up to their trip. Zach had hired the photographer that had taken their first anniversary photos to shoot their proposal. They got to the beach and Zach got out to open Madi’s door, pausing to text Kandis that they had arrived. As they began walking towards the water, Madi noticed Zach was quieter than usual and thought to herself, “Oh my gosh. It’s happening.” A few minutes later, they had gotten down to the water, and as Madi was watching the waves, Zach got down on one knee and asked Madi to turn around, and simply said, “Madison Saianne Boettner-Martinez, will you marry me?” And the rest is history!
