Flight

Guanacaste Airport (LIR) | Daniel Oduber Quiros Airport

Costa Rica has 2 main international airports. LIR - close to the city of Liberia is the closest airport to Tamarindo and requires taxi or shuttle to reach Tamarindo (~1.5 hrs). Many hotels in Tamarindo offer shuttle services from LIR. Private taxi and external shuttles are also available at the airport upon arrival. Due to the staggered nature of guests arrival, we will not be organising group shuttle transfers. Please reach out if you are struggling to arrange your transport from LIR to Tamarindo. We might also be able to facilitate ride sharing if many guests end up arriving at similar dates and times.

Flight

SJO - Juan Santamaria International Airport

SJO airport is the other major airport and is located in San Jose, Costa Rica. There are shuttle options and taxis available from SJO to Tamarindo, however, it is significantly further away than LIR ( approx 5.5 hrs by car or shuttle). Please plan your timeline accordingly for the airport of your choice.

This is where Madi and Wout will be staying, however, there are a wide range of options and price ranges in the area. To allow for everyone to travel within their own timeframes and budgets, we are not blocking rooms for guests. **December is a popular time of year for travel in Tamarindo so we recommend booking accomodation as soon as you know you are planning to attend to assure you have maximum options available. Websites such as booking.com and hotels.com often allow for free cancellation on bookings until a few weeks to days before the date if you want to ensure you have accomodation but are not ready to commit to the RSVP yet.

Vaccinations

Costa Rica is a beautiful and safe destination, but like any international trip, it’s a good idea to check in with your doctor about any recommended travel vaccines. **Some vaccinations may require multiple doses over time, so don’t wait until the last minute to plan! Every traveler’s needs are different, so we encourage you to chat with your healthcare provider to make sure you're all set for a smooth and stress-free trip.
