Ryan and I first crossed paths in Virginia Beach while I was visiting one of my dearest friends, Summer. Ryan was living there at the time because of the Navy, and although I met Ryan's friends first, we eventually met and easily fell into conversation. We stayed connected through social media, and once I returned to Florida, FaceTime calls became a regular thing. We hyped each other up from afar and stayed in touch as life continued. A few years later, I was ready for a change and looking to leave Florida. My friend and I set off on a road trip, asking ChatGPT where we should move based on what we wanted in a city. When Ryan found out Virginia Beach was on our list and that we’d be stopping by, he made sure the weekend was unforgettable. That weekend, Ryan asked me to be his girlfriend. We did long distance for a while and even explored other cities to move to, but nothing compared to Virginia Beach. It had everything we were looking for—plus friends we had both gained over the years. After months of planning (and missing each other), I packed up and moved in with Ryan. My friends and family quickly fell in love with him, and it felt like he had always been a part of us. Ryan later took me to Wisconsin to meet his family, and I fell in love with every single one of them. Everything felt right and natural from the very beginning. We are best friends who share the same love for God, morals, beliefs, and future goals. We make each other laugh, motivate one another, and never have a dull moment together—even sitting in silence (which rarely happens).
