How We Met

First comes school, then comes marriage.

Like any true Gen Z love story, ours began on Snapchat. After countless messages, laughs, and inside jokes, we finally met face-to-face in the hallway at Birdville High School in 2019. It was the start of something we couldn’t have imagined at the time, a relationship built on love, friendship, and choosing each other, time and time again. Not long after, life tested us with distance. Nick left for Midwestern State University, and suddenly our relationship became a mix of FaceTime calls, long drives, and weekend visits that never seemed long enough. For two years, we learned how to love from miles away, holding tight to every moment we had together. When Nick graduated, we thought the distance might finally be behind us, but Madison still had student teaching ahead, and we signed up for one more year apart. Through every season of waiting, we never stopped showing up for one another, and we know without a doubt that our relationship endured because Jesus was —and always will be —our foundation. At our core, we are best friends. We love food dates that turn into hours of conversation, movie nights that last way too late, competitive game nights, and lazy afternoons. We’ve built a relationship where the simple things mean the most, because being in each other’s presence has always been enough. But beyond all the laughter, cats, and shared meals, what truly sustains us is our faith. It is because of Christ’s love that we’ve been able to love each other fully, and it is through Him that our bond continues to grow stronger every day. Looking back, we see a story full of distance, growth, laughter, and resilience. But more than anything, it’s a story of God’s faithfulness—how He brought us together, carried us through the challenges, and taught us to choose each other again and again. Now, as we step into this next chapter, we cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together, not just as husband and wife, but as lifelong best friends who will continue to build our marriage on the foundation of Jesus.
