The camp has almost everything you need, so you won't need to pack much more than any other weekend away from home. But here is a brief packing list of essentials: - twin sheets set & blankets or sleeping bag - pillow - towel - toiletries - reusable water bottle - fun funky formal wear - get dirty play clothes - bathing suit (just in case) - warm weather clothes - cold weather clothes/jacket - rain jacket/umbrella - comfy shoes that don't sink into the dirt - extra socks! For a little extra fun... - costumes - that dress/jacket you never get a chance to wear (this is your chance!) - a community "gift" (see "gifting" section) - Camping Chair - Yoga Clothes + Yoga Mat - Plain white T-Shirt (there may be tye dye) - things to decorate your cabin (No pins or nails allowed and only painter's tape can be used on the property) - your favorite libations (we will be providing an open bar but feel free to bring a little something-something)
As a courtesy to your bunkmates, we lovingly request that you take a COVID test before joining us at camp.
All outdoor experiences require us to follow the principle of "Leave No Trace". This means leaving a place so clean that there is no way of telling you had been there. It means picking up even small scraps of paper or sequins off of the ground.
No one will be digging holes at this wedding! The bathrooms are heated indoor washhouses. These have running water, flush toilets, mirrors, and showers. Some lodging options have their own bathroom and showers, but most guests should plan to use the central washhouses described above. We will also be providing soap and general shower items in these washhouses. If you have any issues that require access to a restroom please reach out to us directly or let us know in the RSVP & Lodging survey.
The concept of "gifting" it is a (non-monetary!) act of giving without any expectation of return or exchange. Some call it a "random act of kindness". It is not necessarily for the couple, but to benefit the community at large. This can mean almost anything! It can be a physical object, an idea, or an act of kindness. You could gift someone a ride, or a pack of bubbles, or a well-timed toast, maybe you make some friendship bracelets to give out, or help someone carry their luggage up a flight of stairs. We invite you to get creative and lean into your greatest talents. We believe strongly that a marriage is an extension of a community. You are invited to our wedding because we consider you part of our community. We want to practice community "gifting" as a way to acknowledge the many gifts you offer just by being in our lives.
If you plan to stay with us (which we hope you do!) we will be staying in bunk-style cabins at Wasewagan Retreat Center. Most of the sleeping arrangements are in cabins, while some are upstairs in the main lodge. All cabins have electricity and heat. They vary in size, some cabins sleep only 4 people while others can sleep up to 22 people. Almost all of the bed options are bunk beds. (see photos page)
Since we are spending the weekend on-site, we will be sharing multiple meals together. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner will be provided +plenty of snacks and desserts, including a 24hr Nacho Station & Salad Bar! We will also have a soda fountain, coffee, & tea available all day. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies please let us know in advance in the LODGING SURVEY (on the RSVP & Travel page)
- Leave No Trace: If you made the mess please clean it up ...and if you didn't make the mess, maybe still clean it up. - No Fires/Candles Allowed - As you know, wildfires are a major issue in this part of the country. Camp provides many beautiful fire pits, please do not start your own fires. This includes sparklers and candles. - Smoking is only permitted in the designated outdoor areas. Cigarette butts must be put in the container provided. **$200 Minimum Fee will be charged to Myke & Madison if butts are found anywhere at the camp. - Please no food or drinks allowed in cabins or cars. We don’t want critters getting into it. You will have access to a safe space, put the food in a container with your name on it and stash it in the rec hall. - Decorations: No Nails, Tacks, Staples, Pins, Tape (painters tape is ok) Glue etc. on any buildings, trees or branches. Everything must be removed before leaving. - No dogs allowed. Sorry, if it was up to us the wedding would be full of dogs running free and wild. But sadly the camp rules says none are allowed to join.
This isn't a question but we get it. Please let us know if you are having hesitancy about staying overnight at the camp and we are happy to talk to you about lodging options. Camping isn't something everyone is accustomed to and it has historically been an environment that some people do not have access to. Others maybe don't feel safe in this environment, for a variety of reasons. We want to assure you that we are keeping you in mind. In fact, we chose this beautiful location with a considerate staff to best accommodate everyone on our guest list. While this is a "camp" environment, this is will be far from a backpacking trip. You will not need any special gear, you will not need survival skills, you will not need to cook, or start your own fire. The only thing we ask is that you join us with an open mind. Both of us love the beauty and honesty of nature. It is our hope that we can create an experience that leaves you feeling more confident, excited, and connected to your community through the outdoors.

We ask that you stay with us at the camp if possible. The wedding and events are designed for everyone to stay onsite together. Not only for safety and ease but also to create a fun, communal atmosphere. The camp is 45 minutes away from the closest hotel. During the day, the drive to camp is beautiful and we will have markers on the smaller roads to help you find your way, but at night the roads are very dark and windy and may have wildlife crossing. There is also limited phone reception on the smaller roads and no storefronts/gas for most of the drive, making it easier to get lost in the dark. We want everyone to stay safe and enjoy the celebration we're planning for you well into the night! If you have any issues with the lodging options at camp please let us know so we can help find ways to accommodate you.
