It was the last day of 8th grade. Madison and her twin sister, Olivia, were invited to Worcester Prep's 8th grade end-of-year pool party because they were soon transferring to the school. Since Luke had attended Worcester Prep since pre-school, he too was of course on the guest list. Luke introduced himself to Madison by showing off his impressive cannonball skills. This led to a partnership in the class game of "Manhunt"...and then the texting relationship began.
Once school began, the flirting continued, but the relationship never became official. They had every class together freshman year and talked constantly. Finally in March 2013, Luke invited Madison over to his house to hang out. While jumping on the trampoline together, Luke asked Madison to officially become his girlfriend. They then spent the rest of high school sharing many milestones together: cheering on the other's sports, studying together, delivering each other coffee in the morning, getting their licenses, being crowned Homecoming/Prom king and queen, and much more.
In the summer of 2021, they moved to Miami and Luke began his MBA program while Madison finished her last two undergraduate classes. They decided to come home for the 4th of July to move Madison's stuff out of her College Park apartment and enjoy an Ocean City weekend with friends and family! On the morning of July 3, Madison woke up to an empty house. Mom, Dad, Olivia, and TJ were mysteriously nowhere to be found - they were too nervous they would give the secret away! Luke even waited to reveal his plan to Olivia and TJ until that very morning because he too had the same concern. Of course, Madison could tell everyone was acting strangely, especially when TJ almost inadvertently let the cat out of the bag by asking why there was a cake in the fridge. So she called up her best pal, Mila, and shared the suspicious behavior. Meanwhile, Luke and all the family accomplices were setting the stage for the proposal on the beach at the Wedge. Madison knew that Luke was taking her on a date via boat that night. But as the day went on, the weather grew worse and Luke's anxiety (along with both families) was rising, unsure if they would be able to take the boat to the Wedge. Suddenly the clouds parted, and Luke saw his opportunity. Rushing Madison onto the boat, they could see the storm clouds brewing. Halfway to the Wedge, they were stopped by the Coast Guard. Understandably exasperated, Luke whispered under his breathe, "Why me?" As the Coast Guards were searching the boat, Luke's anxiety grew to an all-time high and he yelled ,"Can we please go? I can see the f**king rain coming!" Finally, they escaped the Coast Guard's grasp and were seconds from making it to the Wedge. All of a sudden, it began to pour and Luke just looked at Madison and said, "Let's just embrace it." Both soaking wet, Luke walked Madison up to a beautiful display of sunflowers that led to a picnic basket of wine and cheese. Little did Madison know, hidden under the soaked assortment of food and flowers, was a tiny red box with the ring inside. Through the pouring rain, Luke got down on one knee and asked Madison to marry him. Hidden in the dunes, lying in the wet sand, Alexia, Olivia, and Anna were ready to capture the moment on camera. From a distance, Dr. Bescak, Mr. Buas, Pete and Thomas were celebrating on another boat. Back at the Bungalow, Mrs. Buas, Mrs. Bescak, Miranda, TJ, Maggie, Logan, and Luke's Grandma and Grandpa were setting up for an awesome after party for everyone to celebrate this monumental moment. Since you are on this website, clearly she said "YES!!"
