The way God works is just really cool. I met Kenna, Lawson's cousin, my freshman year of college and we became inseparable. In fall of 2016, I met her curly headed cousin, but that's not where our story began. Neither of us thought anything about that night. It wasn't until two years later that I saw him again. This time at his other cousins wedding that I was photographing. I'm not sure how long Kenna had this master plan, but a couple days before the wedding, she mentioned to me that Lawson would be there. Me, being the awkward person that I am, proceeded to avoid all forms of communication with him that entire weekend. And yet, he still messaged me on Facebook after the weekend was over (millennial love amiright). I had my heart guarded and was fully prepared for this to turn out to be nothing. But then I voiced my concerns to him and his response had me hooked instantly -- "I want your heart to be full." Such little words but they meant SO much to me. I quickly fell in love with his gentle soul and sweet personality and found myself driving six hours just to see him for less than 24. Everything happened pretty fast and unexpectedly for both of us, but God continually revealed himself to us and broke down walls and grew us closer and closer. I never expected to love someone as much as I love Laws. He truly makes me smile bigger and laugh harder. And I have never been more myself around anyone else.
When I saw Madi again at my cousins wedding, she was wearing a black and gold dress looking thing, busy with her camera in hand taking pictures. We made eye contact several times throughout the evening due to the fact that I couldn’t keep my eyes off her. She claims that we never did, but I can assure you we did. I instantly knew I wanted to get to know this beautiful girl. I finally built up the courage to message her on Facebook and gave her my number, and when she responded, my heart skipped a beat. The weeks following we didn’t hangout much because she was so far away (almost six hours) but we texted everyday and started talking on the phone and I quickly knew that she was special. Every time I got to see her, I knew I was falling for her hard. Her beautiful smile lit up the room, and I discovered she had the most genuine personality along with the biggest heart and most amazing attitude. Once she moved to Austin and we were able to see each other a lot more frequently, it became apparent that she was the woman God chose for me. She understood me, accepted me for who I was, and forgave me for my past. We both quickly realized God’s plan was to have us fall in love, get married and start a family together one day. Last Christmas, she helped me during a period when I was down. Her sweet soul, and amazingly positive attitude picked me up and reminded me of all He promises to us. She reminded me to love Him and to always know that He never gives us too much to handle. And that through prayer, commitment to reading His word, and taking baby steps that anything is possible through Him. It was then that I truly knew she was my forever. I love her so much and I couldn’t imagine life without her. I praise the Lord for His many blessings, but especially for Him giving me my best friend!
We have always told ourselves that if we keep Lord Jesus at the center of our relationship that it will flourish and grow. And that our story will be a testimony to God’s everlasting love and His plan to guide us down the right path. We are so excited to become husband and wife with the witness of everyone who has played an important role in our life. Our people mean so much to us and have shaped us into the people we are today. We can't wait to celebrate and party it up with all of you!!
