It all started in the fall of 2010. I was FORCED to run cross country because my mother was sick of me playing video games and wanted me to "get some fresh air." I decided to make a spectacle the first day. Clad in purple, with long socks, bandanna and short shorts, little did I realize I fit right in with the rest of the cross country runners. As the year progressed I started to begin practice stretching a little closer and closer to this cute Junior girl. I consistently complained about how much running stunk and how I was forced into cross country. Little did I know, I was talking to one of the hardest working members of the team (and at just about everything in life- Ha). I realized that Madison was in my honors math classes (as a year below me...) and that sitting behind her I had a lot of catching up to do. SOOO....I started hanging out with her....in math... at lunch...at practice...at pasta dinners...and finally I got up the courage to ask her if she wanted to watch the thanksgiving special edition of KUNG FU PANDA (my favorite). Only someone as sweet as Madison would say yes to something of this magnitude! I had the understanding that this was our first time hanging out (outside friendzone) so when I got there I waited in my car for 10 minutes until it was exactly 7:30 PM and I made my way to the door. After a long night of meeting the parents and watching some Kung Fu Panda I made my move with a goodnight kiss and literally sprinted through the front door with a nice big fist pump and a dance on the driveway. Later I found out that she was pretty into me as well and in the end she came around to seeing me as her future boyfriend and now fast forward seven years, her future husband. I'm still sitting behind her in class and trying to keep up. This has been one of the greatest races in life for both of us and it seems like we are just getting to a new starting line.
