Update: Due to COVID-19, we’ve decided to postpone our celebration. Your health and safety are always our top priority. We’ll keep you posted about our new plans, and look forward to celebrating together in the future!
We met while undergraduates at the University of Tulsa in 2013. Our first date was at the Tulsa State Fair (coincidentally the same weekend as 10-03-20 celebration in Tulsa) followed by dinner at Guangzhou, a Chinese restaurant near the university.
After graduating from the University of Tulsa in 2016, we both moved to separate places in China. Johnny began working as an English teacher with Teach for China in Dayao, a city in rural Yunnan province. Madison moved to Nanjing in Jiangsu province to pursue a graduate certificate in Chinese and American Studies. On 21 November, 2016, Johnny proposed while we were spending fall break in Xizhou, a small village in Yunnan province.
After our time in China came to an end, Johnny moved to London to pursue a master's degree, and Madison moved to Hong Kong to work in higher education. Fortunately our schedules allowed us to see each other a few times a year. We married in small civil ceremony in Hong Kong on February 8, 2019, accompanied by our parents, and family and friends in the area.
Madison moved to London to join Johnny in fall 2019. After completing his master's degree, Johnny now works in commodity pricing and reporting. Madison works at an education nonprofit. If anyone stops by London we would be happy to bring you to our favorite pubs!
