Last summer, Jared and I traveled to the Smoky Mountains for a Black family vacation. I was looking forward to relaxing in Gatlinburg. Little did I know, my future groom was making some extra plans. A week before vacation, Jared secretly arranged for my best friend to take me on a very long lunch. While I was out, Jared went to my parents and asked them the big question. Fast forward to one week when we arrived to Gatlinburg. We were all together discussing what activities we were going to embark on. I was annoyed Macey was wanting to go on a hike. If you know me very well I am not much on hiking, so I chose the shortest hike with the best view! The next morning we headed to Laurel Falls, to hike 1.5 miles up the mountain to an amazing 80-foot waterfall. When we arrived to the waterfall, of course everyone was taking photos. I ask Jared to come take a picture with me and he said no. I was furious! A few minutes later he decided that he was ready for a photo. When he went to bend down on his knee, I actually thought that he was falling. I asked "What are you doing?". He then proceeded to pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him! It was the easiest YES!!
