In 2016, both Jake and Madi attended the University of Utah. They had mutual friends which allowed them to cross paths a few times. It wasn't until one night at a party that Jake invited Madi to breakfast at 2 am. Village Inn didn't open until 6, which led to them talking for hours until we fell asleep. They were woken up to Jake's dad calling him because he was supposed to help him cut down a tree. No time for breakfast, Jake dropped off Madi without breakfast or even a KISS.

We had been in Iceland for two days so far. Jakes one request for the trip was to go to Skogafoss waterfall. He really wanted a photo in front of this waterfall alone and had asked me how hard it would be to edit people out, and I didn't think anything of it. It was worth it to get up at 4 am when we were THE ONLY people at this massive 200 ft waterfall. I had set up my camera to take some photos of our friends, which led to them taking photos of us. As they were taking photos of us, Jake asked, "do you think they got a good one?" and I said "yeah" and started walking forward to get the camera. I saw Jake out of the corner of my eye bending down and I turned to see what he was doing He was on his knee with a beautiful ring and saying my name about 5 different times asking if I would marry him. I had my hands in my pocket and I was worried I wouldn't be able to get my hands out by the time he officially asked and he was nervous stumbling over my name and his words that I stuck my hand out and just blurted out yes in the middle of him actually asking lol. He wasn't the only one that was nervous.

Jake and Madi still argue about their first date to this day. Jake will say that it was Zeppes and Madi will say it never happened. If Madi could travel for the rest of her life she would and Jake would follow. Over the years they have been to Arizona, Oregon, St. George, Hawaii, Moab, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Iceland, and probably more. Madi is the travel planner and Jake is there to enjoy a nice drink. They are excited to go to Italy for their honeymoon in May 2023.
