In December of 2017, right before I graduated from USC, my best friend and I both downloaded the Bumble app (mostly as a joke). After I had the app for about 2 weeks, I got a notification that I had matched with Haden. In his description, it said that he worked as an engineer at Michelin in Greenville and had graduated from Clemson. Before I met Haden, I always said that I would NEVER date a Clemson fan, so this was an immediate red flag! Luckily I decided to message him anyway, and the rest is history!

I had been a little suspicious of my mom and Haden all week, but somehow they convinced me that nothing was going on! I had just finished one of the hardest exams I have taken so far in medical school and was excited to go out to dinner and dance the night away at my medical school semi formal! Haden and I had planned to go to Jianna in Downtown Greenville and then meet up with our friends afterwards to go to semi formal. As we were walking to dinner, I mentioned to Haden that I had been suspicious that he would propose that week, but I knew he probably wouldn't ask until a little closer to Christmas. He laughed and played it off SO WELL! We kept walking towards Falls Park and I continued to make jokes about how cute it would be if he proposed on the bridge on our way to dinner. It was hot outside that day, so after we got across the bridge, Haden said he needed to go stand in the shade for a minute. We walked towards a path at the top of Falls Park and I kept telling him that he was walking too far and that the restaurant was the other direction, but he kept walking! Little did I know he was going to the perfect spot where my mom was hiding in the bushes with her camera to take our picture when he proposed.

December 19th is a very special day for my family because it is the same date that my parents got married in 1992, and it is also the same day that Haden and I met on Bumble! We are getting married at my home church in Easley, SC, where my family and I have attended my entire life. We are having the reception at the Westin Poinsett Hotel.
