meet us at the lake!

We met backstage at a showcase in October of 2018 - how Nashville of us. Both newly signed as songwriters, we were introduced as the two Canadians on the team. We wrote a song or two together and saw each other around at work events, but neither of us were brave enough to spark up a cliché office romance. It wasn't until we found ourselves in Key West Florida for a songwriters festival, that we couldn't resist flirting on stage in front of hundreds of strangers and all of our co-workers - how professional of us. We spent that whole weekend together singing karaoke at the tiki bars, and documenting the trip with my polaroid camera. I got to know Griffen as the sweet boy that made his bed every morning, and cleaned up the airbnb kitchen after late night pizza + beers. Our crushes followed us home to TN that summer and I asked Griffen out to CMA Fest, under the guise of it being a "work event". When Griff showed up at my door, I offered him homemade chocolate chip cookies and a white claw. A gesture he says sealed the deal. Maybe it was the music, or the venues, or the fact that we grew up 90 minutes apart from each other with similar big families, but once we started sharing our stories there was no denying the instant connection. He made me laugh, and blush, and feel at home. He also happened to write the best love songs, and I found myself hoping to be the girl in every one.
